Michael Devitt, PT, DPT, OCS

An Oregon native, Michael has fallen in love with his adopted state of Idaho. He graduated from Walla Walla College with a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing with a minor in French. He spent his sophomore year of college studying in France, near Geneva, Switzerland. He graduated with a Master of Physical Therapy in 1994 from Loma Linda University. In 2000, he obtained certification in orthopaedics from the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties, becoming only the fourth certified specialist in the state of Idaho. He completed his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in 2011.

 

Michael spends his time away from the office running, drumming, playing guitar and riding his bikes. In 2016, he completed the Tour Divide unsupported mountain bike race from Banff, Alberta to the Mexican border.

Michael and his family live in Boise’s North End.

Monica Gerhart, PT, MS, OCS, Cert MDT

Monica spent her earlier years as a professional "bun head", and when she spent more time at the Physical Therapist than actually dancing, the transition in careers was a natural one. She graduated from the University of Washington with a BA in Zoology and graduated from Columbia University in 1993 with a Master's in Physical Therapy. In 1998 she was credentialed in the McKenzie method of spinal rehabilitation (Cert MDT) and in 2012 became an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties.

She moved to Idaho in 2003 and is part of the Wellness Team at Ballet Idaho, where she can use her knowledge of dance to keep the dancers as pain-free as possible. She also took on several hobbies such as high altitude mountaineering and distance running. In 2019 she was certified in Functional Dry Needling. In 2020 she became certified in Progressing Ballet Techniques and is a certified running coach through UESCA. While these are varied interests, she combines her wide range of knowledge and techniques in the clinic for effective and individualized treatment, whether for athletes or non-athletes.

Ashlee Snavely
Office Manager

Born and raised in Minnesota where she attended Winona State University in their pre-nursing program. Ashlee moved out to beautiful Boise in 2003 with thoughts of moving back to Minnesota soon after. Needless to say, 20 years later she couldn't image living anywhere else. She has spent the last 20 years working closely with clients and patients in the hospital and office setting. She is very passionate about what she does.

Ashlee is fairly new to Focus, but she is honored to be a part of such an amazing team. To her it's more like a family! By far this is the best place she has EVER worked.

Ashlee has a beautiful 14-year-old daughter, Campbell, and a husky, Neeka. Her brother and his family live in Boise and recently her mom moved out here too. Family is very important to Ashlee at home and at work!

After being referred to another PT after elbow surgery, who literally put me on a machine and walked off, I found the knowledge and professional attention that Monica gave me to be exemplary. In addition, the exercises she recommended were both simple and effective in aiding my recovery. By following her instructions I was able to continue my routine that didn't require ongoing visits, and continues to serve me to this day.

Michael Devitt and Focus Physical Therapy has been my go-to for 20 years.  I am very active (teach many group exercise classes, hike, bike, etc) but am also a woman over 50.   Staying active seems to cohabitate with injuries in my case.   Michael has seen me through back, knee, shoulder, elbow (and more) injuries.  Don't look elsewhere.  He is so intuitive, so educated, so motivated as an athlete himself to get you back out there feeling better and doing the things you enjoy.   His office is immaculate.  Amelia and Becky have been there for years which speaks volumes.   And he will keep you thoroughly engaged in intelligent conversation while working on you so before you know it, the pain (relief) is over.

Focus Physical Therapy is a top notch facility. It is run like an old school practice (they aren't just going to throw you on a modality to get an additional payment or send you off with an aide or PTA to supervise). Both Michael and Monica have impressive backgrounds with years of experience. They are current in their treatments and I would send my people no where else!
