The BEST Staff
Michael Devitt, PT, DPT, OCS
An Oregon native, Michael has fallen in love with his adopted state of Idaho. He graduated from Walla Walla College with a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing with a minor in French. He spent his sophomore year of college studying in France, near Geneva, Switzerland. He graduated with a Master of Physical Therapy in 1994 from Loma Linda University. In 2000, he obtained certification in orthopaedics from the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties, becoming only the fourth certified specialist in the state of Idaho. He completed his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in 2011.
Michael spends his time away from the office running, drumming, playing guitar and riding his bikes. In 2016, he completed the Tour Divide unsupported mountain bike race from Banff, Alberta to the Mexican border.
Michael and his family live in Boise’s North End.
A Boise girl born and raised, Amelia lives on the Bench and loves being so close to the Greenbelt and the many trails of the Boise foothills. She attended Boise State University, taking classes in Communication with an emphasis in Mediation and Conflict Resolution. Prior to joining the team, Amelia managed another clinic in the area and has worked in physical therapy for over 7 years. Before that, she spent time teaching fitness classes and working with children at a local fitness center, as well as raising 3 children of her own. Amelia feels very privileged to now be working alongside such dynamic, experienced and dedicated individuals here at Focus.
Amelia enjoys traveling, dancing, and spending time with family and friends. She especially loves Summer, you will find her and her children spending much of it camping, hiking and enjoying all that the outdoors here in Idaho has to offer.
Monica Gerhart, PT, MS, OCS, Cert MDT
Monica grew up in the Bay Area where she spent her childhood on her toes as a professional "bun head". When not dancing, she spent most of her time seeing Physical Therapists and the transition from dance to PT was a natural one. She graduated from University of Washington with a BS in Zoology and in 1993, graduated from Columbia University with a Masters in Physical Therapy. After graduation, she continued to work in New York City for ten years and moved to Idaho in 2003. In 1998, she became credentialed in the McKenzie Method of spine rehabilitation (Cert MDT) and in 2012 was granted the title of Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. She has also been certified in and has been actively practicing Active Release Techniques (ART) since 2009. She is part of the Wellness Team that works with the dancers at Ballet Idaho, and often works with the touring Broadway in Boise touring companies.
In her spare time, Monica climbs high altitude mountains, trains to climb high altitude mountains, and thinks or reads about climbing high altitude mountains. She also started running long distances for something less cold or dangerous. Training includes CrossFit and Mountain Athlete, and she can usually be found moving quickly up hills, carrying large amounts of weight on her back with her two dogs as her favorite training partners. Recently she joined Flourish Collective, Inc going on Medical Missions to Haiti.
Born right here in beautiful Boise, Becky can’t imagine living anywhere else. She attended Boise State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts with a minor in Ceramics. Becky feels honored to work with a team that has such a positive impact on people’s lives and well being. She’s proud to be a part of such a fun & enthusiastic group of people.
Becky is a full time stay-at-home mama to her sons, Cyrus & Everett. She also enjoys being active outside with her husband, Justin & Great Dane, Rufio --- running, hiking, hot springs…pretty much anything outdoors.
Love from our friends:
Doing terrific, so many thanks to Monica! Playing lots and lots of golf.
I am doing very well!!!! When I first came in I was really struggling and thought I might need to quit my job... I am back to walking several miles several times a week and pain is very manageable. So thank you very much!!!!!
Monica helped me work through 3 sets of issues that were limiting my ability to run more than once or so a week. With her help and diligently following her PT exercises I managed the Weiser River 50 K, Bear Pete 30 K and much more. I am on track to exceed 1,000 miles this year, couldn’t have done it without her help.
Michael was awesome. I saw 2 docs in the 2 weeks leading up to my visit with Michael and neither of them even touched my injured ankle. One took an xray and told me what she saw. The other just listened and referred me to a specialist. Michael listened to what happened and immediately went to work examining my ankle and what was going on with it. I could tell that he understood completely what was wrong and gave me a complete and honest prognosis. He also calmed my fears by using a visual aid to show me what was causing the strange sensations in my ankle.
He worked me hard but that is what I needed. I thought I might need surgery but may be able to adjust to this condition through Michael's PT and the prescribed strengthening/stretching program.
